Improvements in industrial mineral and materials processing can take place through tailor-made reagent chemistry, optimal circuit design and advanced modeling and control. The current R&D effort is directed at three broad areas, namely, design and selection of more efficient reagents/additives/performance chemicals for better process chemistry, engineering optimization of unit operations based on rigorous mathematical modeling and simulation techniques, and viable waste management strategies for process industries.
