Celebrating 25 years of innovation in the IT industry at the silver jubilee anniversary of TRDDC (Tata Research Design and Development Centre), India's first dedicated R&D centre for software engineering, Tata Consultancy Services launched the next wave of collaborative innovation through its 'Co-Innovation Network' (COIN) at Pune. The network was launched by His Excellency President APJ Kalam during his visit to TCS to celebrate 25 years of TRDDC and its contributions to the country's software success story. The visit by the President of India to TCS' Pune offices marks the culmination of a year-long series of events, seminars, lectures and held to celebrate TRDDC silver jubilee celebrations and keep innovation firmly on the IT community's agenda. Established by TCS in 1981, TRDDC has delivered consistent new standards and methodologies for software engineering and process engineering as well as created IP through proprietary automation tools and methodologies. Nanotechnology: TRDDC is investigating the use of nano-materials for industrial coatings where special properties are needed in the coatings. These nano-material based coatings can transform certain applications through their robust and long lasting properties. TCS & Stanford University sign R&D pact for Data PrivacyPublished on: 13 Feb 2006 at 19:00 Source : Moneycontrol.com
Tata Consultancy Services, a leading global technology services organization, announced that it has entered into a 5-year Research and Development collaboration with Stanford University, one of the leading academic institutions in the US, for research in the critical area of data privacy. TCS and the Computer Science department at Stanford University will work on joint projects focused in the area of data privacy. The projects will be selected so that genuine collaboration can take place with TCS scientists working in the area of security and data privacy at the Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC), the company's software engineering research centre in Pune, India. Dr. Satyam Sahay wins Metallurgist of the Year - 2008 AwardDr Satyam Suraj Sahay, Senior Scientist and Activity Lead, Thermal Processing of Materials-TRDDC Pune has been awarded the ‘2008 Metallurgist of the Year’ Award under the ‘Ferrous Category’ instituted by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. The Award will be presented to Dr Sahay at the Inaugural function of the ‘46th National Metallurgists’ Day Celebrations & 62nd Annual Technical Meeting of the Indian Institute of Metals scheduled to be held on 14th November, 2008 at the Auditorium of India Expo Centre, New Delhi, India. Sahay worked on efficiency solutions using model based optimisation methods to addresses important issues such as energy consumption, productivity and environmental impact for the industrial heat treatment. For this, he carried out several successful implementations of model-based process optimisation techniques for industrial heat treatment operations, which has resulted in energy reduction and productivity enhancements. His current research interest includes developing efficient non-isothermal processing and reducing the environmental liability of industrial heat treatment operations. Satyam Sahay joined TRDDC in 1996 after graduating (PhD in Metallurgical Engineering 1995) from University of Utah at Salt Lake City, USA. His earlier educations include BSc in Metallurgical Engineering from BIT Sindri in 1990 and MTech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1992. During his PhD, he has worked on ‘developing efficient sheathing materials for trans-oceanic communication cables’ and ‘phase and microstructural evolution in photovoltaic thin films’. He was a post-doctoral fellow (1995-1996) at University of Utah researching ‘modeling residual stresses in functionally graded materials systems for armor applications’ and ‘production of ultra-strong nano-structured metallic multilayer systems.’ Satyam Sahay is a member of the Global R&D Committee of ASM-Heat Treating Society and in the editorial boards of three international journals (Materials and Manufacturing Processes, Surface Engineering, ASM Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance). He has five patents, 40 Journal publications and 40 Conference presentations to his credit. The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) is India’s premier body representing metallurgical engineers and material scientists in the country. The outstanding contributions made by distinguished metallurgists and material scientists from India in metallurgical education, research and industry will be recognized through various awards during this Award function. Dr. Satyam Sahay wins innovation award in the Promising Innovation category Dr Satyam Sahay from TCS Innovation Labs—TRDDC (Process Engineering) won the Tata Innovation Award in the Promising Innovation category, which recognises the three most successfully implemented innovations across the Tata Group. Sahay’s research on industrial heat-treating led to an innovative implementation that can reap in significant benefit in terms of energy-saving and global warming. |
